Santa Claustaphobia

My work is doing an awesome motivational campaign to help avoid holiday weight gain. It's called Santa Claustaphobia (fear of looking like Santa after the holidays).

Here's the challenge - weigh in the week before Thanksgiving (yes Virginia, I did this today). No one but you and the nurse know the weight....thank goodness.

Then you weigh in the week after New Year's. If you do not gain weight, you get a free long sleeve t-shirt and points toward lowering your health insurance premium. At the end of the year, if you have 750 points you get a $$ savings per month. There are various things you can do to earn points - this campaign for instance earns you 50 points. Taking a health assessment counts also and gives you goals to work at to earn more points!

This is a really cool way of reinforcing health maintenance. So, if you're looking for a way to stay motivated maybe a weigh in is what is needed! Nothing like cold hard numbers to jerk you right back to reality! That is, if the tightening of the trousers doesn't do it!

Hey there, or should I say Hay there! Thanks for stopping by Bee Haven Acres. Yes, building has it's ups and downs....so far I have not seen any of the ups! It seems that everything always gets pushed back later and later. I hope we are done in a year, but I won't hold my breath. Have a great rest of your week!

That's a great idea! Too bad more companies don't do that. Our world might be a little healthier if they did.

Scary ideas are coming out of your head, woman! :) No, seriously, I think this is a fabulous idea - want to try to walk tomorrow? And I have a surprise for you!!!

Aw, c'mon. You've got 11 months to take off whatever one month's indulgence adds! They should weigh you from one year to the next, not one month.

Kitt - I would never win a t-shirt if I had to go a year worrying about the weight!!!! I'm better with small goals! I am very motivated for this one - and I'll do almost anything for a free item!!!

Best of luck to you, Melissa! I would like to lose a little weight over the holidays, but a more realistic goal would probably be just to not gain any. So many goodies to be eaten in the month and a half ahead! :)

You know you could have given yourself a "head start" if you'd put some bricks in your pockets when you weighed in this week!

If I didn't gain over the holidays, it would be the first time. Go for it, I know you can do it! Love those long sleeve T-shirts!
